Telstra regularly reports these malicious telephone numbers to the carriers who are responsible for receiving the calls. The scammers will try to trick you into providing your credit card details for a 'refund', but, instead, they will make actual charges on your card. Never call a phone number that is provided as a way to dispute a charge in this manner. A telephone number is also provided for disputes. In other cases, it could be an SMS informing you of a change to your bank's PayID recipient list, or, letting you know about an unexpected bank charge. You may receive an email which claims to be an invoice for a product you may never have purchased, and a phone number is provided to 'dispute' the invoice amount. This type of scam can appear in many different ways.
